Input and Output Devices
Welcome to the chapter on Input and Output Devices for Class 3. In this chapter, you will learn about the devices that help us give instructions to the computer (input devices) and the devices that show us the results (output devices). By the end of this chapter, you will be able to name and use different input and output devices!
Introduction
Computers need our help to work. We use input devices to give instructions or data to the computer. The computer then shows us the result using output devices.
What are Input Devices?
Input devices are tools we use to enter data or instructions into the computer.
- Keyboard: Used to type letters, numbers, and symbols.
- Mouse: Used to point, click, and select things on the screen.
- Microphone: Used to record our voice or sounds.
- Scanner: Used to copy pictures or documents into the computer.
- Webcam: Used to take photos or videos.
What are Output Devices?
Output devices show us the results after the computer processes our instructions.
- Monitor: Shows pictures, videos, and text.
- Printer: Prints text and pictures on paper.
- Speakers: Play sounds and music.
- Projector: Shows computer screen on a big wall or screen.
Fun Activity: Find Devices at Home!
Look around your house or classroom. Can you find a keyboard, mouse, monitor, or speakers? Make a list of the input and output devices you see.
