Introduction
Verbs are action words. They tell us what someone or something does. Every sentence needs a verb to show an action or a state.
What are Verbs?
Verbs are words that show actions, like run, jump, eat, or sleep. They can also show what someone feels or is, like is, am, are, feel, or like.
- She runs fast.
- I eat an apple.
- They play in the park.
- He is happy.
Types of Verbs
- Action Verbs: Show what someone does (run, jump, sing).
- Being Verbs: Show what someone is (am, is, are, was, were).
Using Verbs in Sentences
Every sentence needs a verb. Try to find the verb in each sentence you read or write.
- The dog barks.
- We read books.
- She is my friend.
