Introduction
Questions help us get information, learn new things, and talk to others. Question tags are short questions added at the end of a sentence to confirm or check something.
How to Ask Questions
- Use words like what, where, when, who, why, and how.
- Put the question word at the beginning of the sentence.
- End the sentence with a question mark (?).
Examples:
- What is your name?
- Where do you live?
- Who is your best friend?
What are Question Tags?
A question tag is a short question added at the end of a statement. It is used to check or confirm information.
- You are coming, aren't you?
- She is happy, isn't she?
- It is raining, isn't it?
- They can swim, can't they?
How to Use Question Tags
- If the sentence is positive, use a negative tag.
- If the sentence is negative, use a positive tag.
- Use the helping verb from the sentence in the tag.
Examples:
- You like ice cream, don't you?
- He isn't late, is he?
