By the end of this chapter, you will be able to identify and use present, past, and future tenses with ease!

Introduction

Tenses tell us when something happens—now, before, or later. Using the correct tense helps us talk about time clearly.

Types of Tenses

  • Present Tense: Tells about things happening now.
  • Past Tense: Tells about things that happened before.
  • Future Tense: Tells about things that will happen later.

Present Tense

We use the present tense for actions happening now or things that are always true.

  • I play in the park.
  • She eats an apple.
  • The sun rises in the east.

Past Tense

We use the past tense for actions that happened before now.

  • I played in the park.
  • She ate an apple.
  • We visited the zoo yesterday.

Future Tense

We use the future tense for actions that will happen later.

  • I will play in the park.
  • She will eat an apple.
  • We will visit the zoo tomorrow.

How to Change Tenses

  • Present: I walk to school.
