Introduction
Adverbs are words that describe or give more information about verbs, adjectives, or other adverbs. They tell us how, when, where, or to what extent something happens.
Types of Adverbs
- Adverbs of Manner: Tell us how something happens.
Example: She sings sweetly. - Adverbs of Time: Tell us when something happens.
Example: He arrived yesterday. - Adverbs of Place: Tell us where something happens.
Example: The children are playing outside. - Adverbs of Frequency: Tell us how often something happens.
Example: She always eats breakfast. - Adverbs of Degree: Tell us to what extent something happens.
Example: The water is very cold.
Using Adverbs in Sentences
Adverbs can come before or after the verb, or at the beginning or end of a sentence.
- He runs quickly.
- Yesterday, we went to the park.
- She is very happy.
