Time

Welcome to the chapter on Time for Class 1. In this chapter, you will learn about time, how to read a clock, and understand the parts of a day. By the end of this chapter, you will be able to tell simple times and know what happens at different times of the day!

Introduction

Time helps us know when things happen. We use clocks and watches to tell the time. We also use words like morning, afternoon, evening, and night to talk about different parts of the day.

Parts of the Day

  • Morning: When you wake up and go to school.
  • Afternoon: After lunch, when you play or study.
  • Evening: When the sun sets and you come home.
  • Night: When it is dark and you go to sleep.

Reading a Clock

A clock has numbers from 1 to 12. It has two hands:

  • Short hand: Shows the hour.
  • Long hand: Shows the minutes.

When the long hand is at 12, we say "o'clock".

Example: If the short hand is at 7 and the long hand is at 12, it is 7 o'clock.

Daily Activities and Time

  • You wake up at 6 o'clock in the morning.
  • You go to school at 8 o'clock.
  • You have lunch at 1 o'clock in the afternoon.
  • You play in the evening at 5 o'clock.
  • You go to bed at 9 o'clock at night.

Fun Activity: Draw a Clock!

Draw a big circle. Write numbers 1 to 12. Draw the short and long hands to show your favorite time of the day!
