Mathematics Class 2 - Computation Operations Notes
Comprehensive study notes for Class 2 - Computation Operations olympiad preparation

Computation Operations
Welcome to the chapter on Computation Operations for Class 2. In this chapter, you will learn about the basic math operations: addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division. By the end of this chapter, you will be able to solve simple problems using these operations!
Introduction
Computation operations help us solve math problems. The main operations are addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division.
Addition
Addition means putting things together to find the total.
- 3 + 2 = 5
- 7 + 1 = 8
Subtraction
Subtraction means taking away to find what is left.
- 5 - 2 = 3
- 8 - 4 = 4
Multiplication
Multiplication means adding the same number again and again.
- 2 × 3 = 6
- 4 × 2 = 8
Division
Division means sharing or splitting into equal parts.
- 6 ÷ 2 = 3
- 8 ÷ 4 = 2
Fun Activity: Operation Cards!
Make cards with numbers and operation signs (+, -, ×, ÷). Mix them and solve the problems you create!
Summary
- Addition: Put together
- Subtraction: Take away
- Multiplication: Add again and again
- Division: Share equally
Practice Questions
- What is 4 + 3?
- What is 9 - 5?
- What is 2 × 4?
- What is 8 ÷ 2?
- Circle the operation sign for multiplication.
Challenge Yourself
- Write two word problems using addition and subtraction.
