Introduction

Air, water, and rocks are found all around us. All living things need air and water to live. Rocks are part of the Earth and are used in many ways.

Air

Air is everywhere, even though we cannot see it. We need air to breathe. Plants, animals, and people all need air.

  • Air helps us dry our clothes.

Water

Water is a clear liquid that we drink and use every day. All living things need water to live.

  • We drink water when we are thirsty.

  • We use water for bathing, cooking, and cleaning.

Sources of Water

  • Rain
  • Rivers
  • Lakes

Rocks

Rocks are hard, solid parts of the Earth. They come in different shapes, sizes, and colors.

  • Some rocks are small like pebbles, some are big like mountains.
  • Rocks are used to make buildings, roads, and statues.
  • Some rocks have minerals inside them.

Keeping Air, Water, and Rocks Clean

  • Do not throw garbage in water or on rocks.
  • Do not burn waste that makes the air dirty.
  • Plant more trees to keep the air clean.
  • Always drink clean water.
  • Do not break rocks or write on them.

Fun Activity: Nature Walk!

Go for a walk outside. Can you feel the air? Can you find water? Look for different rocks and see their shapes and colors!
