Introduction
Adjectives and adverbs are special words that help us describe people, places, animals, things, and actions. They make our sentences more colorful and fun!
What are Adjectives?
Adjectives are words that describe nouns (naming words). They tell us more about a person, place, animal, or thing.

What are Adverbs?
Adverbs are words that tell us more about verbs (action words). They tell us how, when, or where something happens.
- She sings sweetly. (How?)
- He ran quickly. (How?)
- The dog barked loudly. (How?)
Using Adjectives
Adjectives answer questions like: What kind? How many? Which one?
- I have two pencils. (How many?)
- She has a blue dress. (What kind?)
- That is the biggest cake. (Which one?)
Using Adverbs
Adverbs often end with -ly, but not always.
- The baby slept peacefully.
- He finished his work early.
- The cat jumped high.
Fun Activity: Describe and Act!
Look around your room. Pick an object and describe it using adjectives (color, size, shape). Then, act out an action and describe how you do it using an adverb (slowly, happily, loudly).
