Introduction
Prepositions are words that tell us where a person, animal, or thing is. They show the position or place of something.
Common Prepositions
- in – The cat is in the box.
- on – The book is on the table.
- under – The ball is under the chair.
- behind – The dog is behind the door.
- over – The bird is flying over the tree.
- between – The cat is between two dogs.
- next to – The boy is next to his friend.
How to Use Prepositions
Prepositions come before a noun to show its place.
- The apple is on the plate.
- The shoes are under the bed.
- The girl is in the car.
Fun Activity: Where is It?
Place a toy in different places (on the table, under the chair, behind the door) and say where it is using prepositions!
