What are Analogies?
An analogy shows a relationship between two pairs of words. You need to find how the first pair is related and apply the same relationship to the second pair.
- Example: Cat : Kitten :: Dog : Puppy
- Explanation: A kitten is a young cat; a puppy is a young dog.
Types of Analogies
- Synonym (words with similar meanings)
- Antonym (words with opposite meanings)
- Part to Whole (petal : flower)
- Function (pen : write)
- Cause and Effect (rain : wet)
How to Solve Analogies
- Read the first pair and find the relationship.
